- Bring water shoes! We have a fun water hazard to cross. As of 5/20/24 we will need to roll or walk through ~4-6 inches of running water to cross the creek into the park. You will probably want to walk your bike. It's a solid rock hardscape that is just a bit slick. Shoes with some grip are good. You may want to remove low hanging bags.
- Overnight parking is across the street from the Bike Library.
- Provided: Drinking water, cold drinks, port-a-potty, firewood, and fire starters.
- Bring at least two (preferably 3) bottles of water or Gatorade for the ride there. One is not enough on a warm day. We will stop after a major hill to drink and regroup.
- Bring snacks for the bike ride. Rule of thumb: eat before you are hungry and drink before you are thirsty.
- Bring a chair, stool, pad, or blanket to sit on.
- Hydrate ahead of time! Be drinking plenty of water the day before and morning of the ride.
- There will be no shame in hike a bike sections on the hills. Carrying weight can be tough especially if the gravel is chunky or sandy.
- Ticks and poison ivy exists in the pine grove near camping area. Be prepared with long sleeves, pants, and shoes. Bug repellent provided.
- Bring your own food. Bonus to you if you want to share homemade items especially foraged from your backyard.
- No speakers (There are neighbors nearby)
- Sag: We have one person who is driving a vehicle for emergencies. It is still a very good idea to let your family or a friend know the route and where you will be in case of emergency or severe weather.
- The event will happen in cool weather or expected light rain. Severe weather predictions will cancel the event. Check your email for any updates close to the start time.
- A back blinky light is recommended even in bright sun. A front light is recommended in gray or drizzly weather.
- A helmet is non-negotiable.
- Leave no trace.
- Foraging should be done in the company of experts. No flowers or seed heads should be foraged.
