Saturday, April 13 2024: Day Trip from Bike Library to Bur Oak Land Trust Big Grove Preserve for an Ephemeral Wildflower Tour!
Strap on the panniers! It's a bikepacking day trip. Bring lunch and drinks, hiking shoes, bike lock, flat kit, blanket or chair, & weather appropriate clothes. There are no amenities along the route or at the park. Plan to pull up behind a tree if nature calls and BYO-TP. Pack it in and pack it out. Rain or shine.
Meet at the Bike Library at 10am. Please be on time and have your bike ready to go. The Bike Library is open Friday for fixes.
We will ride 22.4 miles round trip https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46085434
We will eat lunch (at Cangleska Wakan if available) and chat before having a private guided hike from 12:30pm to ~2pm by a Bur Oak Land Trust naturalist who will show case the beautiful, short lived, forest flowers of spring. Bikes should be locked in the public parking area. Lock several bikes together to discourage opportunistic thieves from a quick carry or roll away. Carry your valuables with you on the hike.
Ride home to return ~3:30-4pm. We will return by the same route with a few small deviations.
Event is free and open to the public but registration is required. Limited to 25 particpants. The ride is full as of 4/4/24! We appreciate knowing of any cancellations so that others may enjoy the ride. Email Audrey at [email protected] if your plans have changed.
