Clarity GuerraBoard MemberThe Bike Library is where many of my passions come together: building a caring and resilient community for everyone, repairing things, and encouraging a culture of going more places by bike. I am a City of Iowa City Climate Ambassador and see the Bike Library as a place where climate action already takes place and has potential to grow its impact as a leader in climate action in our community. I’m so excited to be on the board and support the Bike Library’s work!

Mike HaverkampPresidentMike will eagerly engage with you about the beauty and practicality of three-speed bikes. His bike skill sets include teaching kids how to ride, polishing chrome and protecting old finishes. Perhaps he needs those last two skills because he owns several bikes that are older than he is. On his first RAGBRAI in 1987, Mike rode a Panasonic Touring Deluxe and rode it again on RAGBRAI 2018. He adores riding through Old St. Joseph's cemetery and past the Black Angel in Oakland Cemetery.

Tony BranchBoard MemberThe Bike Library is a welcoming and supportive hub within our community that allows folks to learn new skills, value our environment, and embrace the many aspects the bicycle can lend to our well-being. The bicycle has been a part of my childhood and has fostered many memorable moments and adventures. It expanded the boundaries of my world that bought me so much joy. I look forward to being able to share that joy the bicycle has brought me with others, specifically young folks.

Frank Delno ‘Del’ Holland, IIISecretaryTalk to this environmental activist if you want to know more about working on kids bikes or if you want to know about his passion for volunteering on Wednesdays’ Salvage nights. Del most enjoys biking because he likes to be in the elements, and likes not buying fossil fuels. When trails are a logical part of his travel for transportation, it’s icing on his cake. Del’s most awesome biking feat was riding 117 miles (in one day with camping gear in tow) to attend a workshop in central Iowa. He then hopped (by bike) down to the Iowa State Fair to staff a renewable energy booth. To Del, the Bike Library is a boon to the cycling community, but—much more broadly—a great environmental benefit.

Wanda KennedyBoard MemberWanda is the co-founder of the Johnson County Trail Foundation, a non-profit that helps raise funds for the local trail systems, the cycling community, and bicycle advocacy. She has organized the Q7 Tweed Ride for the past 10 years here in Iowa City. Wanda's passion for cycling began with her first RAGBRAI in 1997 and she hasn't missed one since. That passion grew into all aspects of cycling--road, trail, commuting, cyclocross/mountain/gravel racing, kid-hauling, biking her kids to school, self-contained touring, organizing bike events, bike maintenance, volunteering, and now owning a cycling apparel company called Q7 Cycling. As her family grows her focuses are shifting, but safety, education, and encouragement to ride at all ages are what she continues to support. Smile and ride bikes!
