Women/Trans/Femme (WTF) 2024 Bikepacking Trip!
Saturday, June 1 (3pm) to Sunday, June 2 (leave campsite ~10am to return ~11:00-11:30am)
This event is past-you missed a super fun time! Check back for future/fall 2024 opportunities.
The Iowa City Bike Library and Bur Oak Land Trust are teaming up to bring you another fun Women/Trans*/Femme Bike Touring Adventure.
Saturday, June 1st. Arrive for adjustments from 2:00-2:45pm at the Bike Library. Introductions at 2:45pm. We hit the road at 3pm. The Bike Library is open at 10am for fixes.
Sunday, June 2nd: 10am (or earlier) pack up and return.
The main route with leads and sweep will involve 11.8 miles of pavement, gravel, and B roads to arrive at Bur Oak Land Trust Belgum Grove. We'll skip the B roads with an alternate route if muddy.

There is also an alternate 14.3 mile all paved route. The paved route may be taken self-supported with a friend or small group to meet the main group at the campsite if gravel is not your thing. Registration is required.

If you are a confident rider and want to go a longer distance, there are many fun roads out in this area to do so. You are welcome to choose your own independent adventure and meet at the site ~4-5pm. Registration is required. Lead and sweep stay with the main gravel route.
Provided: Drinking water, cold drinks, port-a-potty, firewood, and fire starters.
The overnight will offer a short hike with a Bur Oak naturalist, campfire, and plenty of conversation. It's a smaller property. Expect a nice chill evening.
The event is free. We do suggest that you make a donation to cover the port-a-potty rental. The Bike Library is also undergoing a capital campaign and additional donations are very welcome!
Contact Susan Stamnes if you need any gear. I have an extra complete kit including a single tent. [email protected]

- Bring water shoes! We have a fun water hazard to cross. As of 5/20/24 we will need to roll or walk through ~4-6 inches of running water to cross the creek into the park. You will probably want to walk your bike. It's a solid rock hardscape "bridge" that is just a bit slick. Shoes with some grip are good. You may want to remove low hanging bags.
